I grew up in Malibu, California, where I spent most of my time hiding out in libraries. I teach college English and write.

I am the author of four biographies for middle grade readers and am currently working on books for children and teens. I like writing with a nod to nineteenth century gothic novels, twentieth century noir, and anything involving adventure, overcoming obstacles, and laughter.

I live north of Seattle on an island in the Salish Sea.
